Andhra Pradesh is located in the south eastern coast of India and is the eighth largest state in the country. The state is bordered by Chhattisgarh to the north, Odisha to the northeast, Telangana and Karnataka to the west, Tamil Nadu to the south, and the Bay of Bengal to the east. Its 974 km coastline is the second longest in the country.
Andhra Pradesh aims to be among the top three performing Indian states by 2022 and a developed state by 2029. The Economy of Andhra Pradesh is primarily dependent on agriculture, which directly and indirectly employs 62% of the population. GSDP as per the first revised estimate, for the year 2022-23 is ₹13,17,728 crore. The state is ranked 1st in the country for the year 2021-22 in terms of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth at constant prices with growth rate of 11.43%.
The state achieved overall 4th rank in SDG India Report for the year 2020-21, with first rank in SDG-7 (affordable energy) & second rank in Goal-14 (Life below water).
The state has been ranked the best state in ease of doing business in the country for the year 2016 by the World Bank.
The State is a logistics marvel on the eastern coast of India. With a coastline of 975 km, it is the second-longest in India. New business opportunities in Andhra Pradesh are plenty as the state has 6 major ports, 6 airports, 7087 km of national highways, 14,714 km of state highways and 3703.25 km of rail routes.
Andhra Pradesh is a power surplus state with 25 GW installed power generation capacity with over 35% contribution from renewables and the least power transmission losses. It has been ranked No. 1 in the implementation of Energy efficiency and conservation programmes by the World Bank.


For the year 2022-23, Andhra Pradesh’s growth rate is estimated to be 11.43%, higher than the national average. The State is ranked 9 in Export Preparedness Index 2021 and is recognized as an “Achiever” among the coastal states by DPIIT in Logistics Ease (LEADS 2022).
With 354 project proposals and investments worth INR 13 Lakh Cr committed at the Andhra Pradesh Global Investor Summit 2023, the State is poised for growth in marquee industries spanning across automobile & auto-components, electronics, food processing, biotechnology & life sciences, capital goods and IT/ITeS among others.
Sri City Special Economic Zone that houses 180 companies from 27 countries, is a key example of well-planned infrastructure that has created employment and generated industrial growth for the state.
Andhra Pradesh Having 109 warehouses (total capacity of 13.38 Lakh MT), 104 cold storages (total capacity of 66.7 Million MT, 1 Inland Container Depot (ICD), 3 Container Freight Stations (CFSs), In terms of modal share, 55% of cargo is moved through rail and conveyor belts, which is higher than the national average of 35%, Road accounts for 32% of freight movement and the rest is moved either through pipelines or coastal shipping.
Andhra Pradesh contributes 5.8% of total Indian exports, USD 16.8 Bn with a growth rate of 9%, In 2020-21 the state ranked #5 in terms of value exported from India, moving up two places compared to previous year. Top 15 principal commodities contributed nearly 80% of State’s export value, with major share coming from 15% Marine Products, 8.4% Ship and Boat Structures, 7.3% Drug Formulation, 7.4% Iron and Streel, 4.6% Rice Ingredients, 3.6% Spices.
